Mental Health Professional Alexandra Love Endorses Gary Cordery For Governor
Today, Republican candidate for Governor of Hawaiʻi, Gary Cordery, a successful businessman and entrepreneur, was endorsed by licensed mental health professional, Alexandra Love.
Alexandra Love is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider. Love has years of experience treating individuals struggling with substance abuse and the many challenges that come along with it including relationship issues, coping with difficult emotions, increasing self-control, recovering from trauma, establishing healthy relationships, and improving communication skills.
In her practice, Love specializes in the treatment of juvenile and adult sexual abusers. Love understands that people who have sexually offended are often concerned about being judged or shamed for their mistakes, so she approaches her clients with respect and non-judgement as she develops a trusting therapeutic environment with them and assists them in finding healthy ways to meet their needs and prevent reoffending.

I was born and raised in Hawaiʻi. I’ve worked in public schools across Oʻahu counseling teens who were using drugs and alcohol and are at risk for substance abuse. I’m currently in private practice on the island of Maui where I treat justice-involved teens and young adults who have committed sexual offenses. I have listened to all the candidates for Governor and while most focus on how to address problems once they are identified, Gary is the only one who is talking about attacking the root issue of many of the problems we see in our communities so that problems are prevented, not just identified. Gary casts a vision for families that stay together:young people who have positive role models, are rooted in their culture, and have strong communities that lift each other up. While Gary has plans for how the government can be involved and supportive, his vision doesn’t just involve allocation of funding, or another government program that will produce the same insufficient outcome as the last. As a woman, a mental health professional, a mother, and a small business owner, I support Gary Cordery for Governor.
